As you probably may be wondering, how our Kickstarter for Gnosis went, well our update is not as positive as we had hoped but we have actually learned a lot of positive things through this whole journey. The TL:DR version is thus; In time honored tradition among indie game designers, we tanked our first Kickstarter. We’ll redouble our efforts and relaunch next summer. We appreciate your support and hope to see you next year. See link at the bottom for a thank you gift.
We would like to thank all of you who contributed and believed in us and this project, it means a lot to us.
The members of the team met to discuss what our plans are going forward, as I’m sure many of you wish to know as well. It is our intention to relaunch a campaign next summer. We will be quiet for most of the remaining year though as much of our team is sidelined for the moment and we need a few months to regroup before we can move forward. One of our members was hospitalized for a full month, nearly dying, just before this campaign’s launch and has a long road to recovery ahead. Another member is moving into their first house soon and has a lot on their hands coordinating that with their work. A third has and continues to work 10-20 hours of overtime each week and has been unable to devote the necessary time. Come the new year and start of the con season, we will have a more aggressive approach to demo’s and appearances.
We have a lot to learn from this campaign as to why it went poorly and we need time to identify and make corrections. We know our intro video was weak, this was the result of a shortage of funds to pay for a professional one and the video was done by Josh who had never worked with video editing before, so all things considered it came out really good, but not what was needed. We feel the main body of the project was not the most exciting sales pitch either and needs to be refined. We did not line up enough support before launching the campaign or effectively get the word out to people who were willing to back us. There was also a gaff with an update that never posted, but instead saved as a draft to tell you we were posting all of the unit profiles and art on our Facebook page daily throughout the campaign.
As we are new at this, we are learning each step of the business one at a time. We believe we have a good product; it’s been tested and polished, so now we need to learn how to market it. We appreciate any feedback you may have as someone looking in on our work and suggestions as to what we could be doing better.
Obviously, we hope you still believe in us and our project enough to consider supporting us when we relaunch. You can follow us in the meantime on FB and through our website: http://www.hitmouseproductions.com/
We don’t like the idea of you going away empty-handed after your support and patience with us as we learn, so we’re giving out the wallpaper rewards to our backers. They are in the following sizes: 1200X800, 1366X768, 1440X900, 1920X1080. Here is the link to dl the zip file: http://bit.ly/2bZWKRH
Lastly, we’ll be posting the game’s rulebook and world setting booklet as pdf’s on our website in the coming weeks. There’ll be one last update telling you when.
